Wet Your Whistle

A 4 track tech-house ep (24m 32s) — released July 3rd 2020 on Tessellate

Tessellate co-founders launch their new project, The Trip with four slick house cuts on their London based imprint which includes a remix from Leipzig's Mbius.

The Trip is the new DJ and production project by Max van Dijk and Oli Hiam, the founders of the renowned London label and party Tessellate who have been putting on stellar parties since 2013. The duo have been DJing together for years as residents at their parties and more recently have been making some music so they decided to bring their DJing and productions together as The Trip with 'Wet Your Whistle' being the result following releases on the label from artists like T. Jacques, Kylin Tyce, Alex Pervukhin, Firmin and Aleksandir.

Title track, 'Wet Your Whistle' begins proceedings with luscious atmospheres, soaring sub-bass rolls and shimmering rhythms keeping you enticed throughout before 'Miss Your Point' offers up skippy, breaks-tinged percussion, nostalgic and uplifting bass notes underneath the inviting acid squelches.

On the flipside, arpeggiated synth flutters and glistening modulations balanced with swinging drums and a succulent sax line take the focus in 'Friend Request (Sax Mix)' whist German artist Mbius who has releases on Ethernal (an offshoot of Daydream) and Long Vehicle rounds things off with stabbing oscillations, angelic leads and rich melodies and grooves in his remix of 'Friend Request'.
